In 2018, the finance department at 51 created the Student Investment Fund as an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience analyzing stocks and managing a real portfolio. The portfolio is currently beating the benchmark, and finance students have managed to generate $30,000 in profits since the fund’s inception.
Dr. Julie Turner, a Professor and Department Chair in the Non-profit Administration program, recently received the Women’s Leadership Award from the Athena Leadership Foundation. This Saint Charles-based foundation was founded in 1987 and “exists to support the development of women in leadership roles.”

The DECA, or Distributive Education Clubs of America , state competition was recently won by Lindenwood’s own Sydney Schader and Emma Rogers. The goal and purpose of the competition is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges. Throughout the competition process, the participants not only get to engage in good hearted competition but learn through experience as well.
For the past three years, the accounting majors and professors at Lindenwood have provided the community with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance for free. The clinic was originally started by former faculty member Lisa Bushur and is now overseen by Professor James Bosnick, who teaches Accounting courses and acts as the site coordinator for the clinic.
