Course Description
Course Focus: Submitting Prose to Literary Journals. Students in this course must have workshopped a short piece of prose writing鈥揻iction (short story or flash fiction), creative nonfiction (personal essay, lyric essay, or flash nonfiction), or prose poem (paragraph format with no line breaks or stanzas)鈥搃n a previous MFA class that is ready to be polished for submission to literary journals. Coursework includes researching journals, workshopping from an editor鈥檚 perspective, final proofreading and polishing to prepare work for publication, writing an author鈥檚 bio, and submitting work to at least one literary journal.
