Teacher Education Deadlines
Application to Teacher Education Program Deadline
Students must apply to be accepted into the Teacher Education during EDU 21501/EDU 51500 Teacher Education seminar. The student will not be allowed to enroll in most upper level or methods coursework until he/she has been formally admitted at Benchmark/Stage 1 to the teacher education program.
Criteria for full admittance into the Teacher Education program includes:
Undergraduate students
- Completion of 9 credit hours of education courses with a grade of 鈥淐鈥� or better.
- Completed Application Form.
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA in content courses and a 3.0 in education courses with a grade of “C” or better.
- Receive a 鈥淐鈥� or better in an oral communication course.
- Receive a 鈥淐鈥� or better in ENGL 15000 and ENG 17000.
- Program Plan from advisor.
MAT Graduate students
- Completion of 9 credit hours of education courses with a grade of 鈥淐鈥� or better.
- Completed Application Form.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA in content courses and a 3.0 in education courses with a grade of “C” or better.
- Program Plan from advisor.
Application into Student Teaching Deadline
Acceptance into Benchmark/Stage Two is required for admittance into student teaching. All applications for admission student teaching must be completed. Requirements for admission to student teaching are found under Admission Requirements.
The following are the deadlines for admission to Stage Two/Student Teaching.
Student Teaching applications must be completed and submitted by
August 1 – October 15 for Spring Semester
February 1 – April 15 for Fall Semester
